DANGERS OF SMOKING (S. B-2010)



Smoking is not only a bad habit but also an injurious habit. Inhaling tobacco is generally termed as smoking. Now-a-days, it has become very common and fashionable among the young people. Attractive advertisement of cigarette is also responsible for smoking. Smoking not only harms the active smokers but also harm a great deal to the passive smoker. It is responsible for many fatal diseases. It causes cancer, hart attack, high blood pressure etc.  It is found that one puff of cigarette smoke contains fifteen billion particles of matter. Nicotine is one of them. It prevents the free flow of blood and reduces the supply of oxygen in the body. Smoking damages lungs, reduces appetite for food, pollutes environment, causes irritation in the eye and offends the nose. In a word, smoking has only bad effect in our body and mind. To prevent this problem, government should ban smoking in the public places and take necessary legal action. Public awareness is must to reduce this problem. Electronic and print media can play a vital role in this regard.

IMPORTANCE OF LEARNING ENGLISH (RB-2004, 2008, CB-2010, DIJ.B-2010)



English is an international language. Statistics show that 350 million people speak English as a first language and another 300 million use it as a second language. It is the official or semi-official language in more than 60 countries and of many international organizations. For example, International Olympic Committee always holds meeting in English. Today more than 80% of all information in the world’s computer is in English. As most of the books of the world written in English, so we need to learn English for higher education.We live in a global village. So, we need a common language to communicate with the people of other countries. English performs the role of that common language. It is needed everywhere. For example, a government official need English to communicate with the foreign delegates, a businessman need English to communicate foreign buyers, a pilot and an air hostage need English to communicate with foreign passengers, a telephone operator need English to talk with the people of foreign country, a postman need English to deliver the letters from abroad. It is needed for almost every job. Now-a-days, organizations, as a result seek employees who can speak and write a standard form of English. So, English helps to get a good job with handsome salaries. In fine, we can say that we need to learn English to make us competent for the competitive world.

BANGLADESH OR MY COUNTRY ( D.B.2008, CTG.2008, J.B.2004)



Bangladesh is a small developing country situated in South Asia. She gained her independence in 1971 from Pakistan. Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. Most of the people speaks in Bangla but English is widely used too. Bangladesh is an agricultural country. Jute, rice, tea etc are main crops. There are six season in Bangladesh with tropical monsoon climate. Bangladesh is called the land of rivers. The Padma, the Maghna and the Jamuna are the main rivers of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is famous for her natural beauties. The longest sea beach of the world Cox's Bazar is situated in Bangladesh. Sundarban is famous for Royal Bengal Tiger, the national animal of Bangladesh. Shat Gombuj Mosque, Paharpur Buddist Bihar etc are another tourist spot in our country. Bangladesh has many age old tradition. Pahela Baishakh, Nabanna, Pahela Falgun etc are the most common custom and tradition observed by the people of the country. Moreover, 21st February or the International Mother Language Day, 26th March or the Independence Day and 16th December or the Victory Day are also famous occasion. As people of all religion live here peacefully, so Eid, Puja etc are famous religious festivals. There are many tribal people who also have a rich culture. It is very difficult to describe my country in short. She is a land of beauty. I love my country most.
